give me 3 adjectives to describe yourself...

Remember that last chance I mentioned on the blog yesterday? Well, I got a call about 4 hours after sending in my resume for an interview and went on that interview this morning. I will not speak about how I did so as not to jinx myself. It's for a fourth grade class because a teacher is resigning and moving out of the district. Anyway, the interview questions weren't as awful as usual. The one question I always hated was the one up top. Hmm, let me see..3 words to describe myself...I got it! Schizophrenic, immature, and dishonest. That should wrap up this job easily! So, when do I start? OR...Tell us about yourself. Well, I'm 6' 180lbs. I have green/blue eyes. Some of my turn-ons include long walks on the beach...or I'd start with Once upon a time, my father and mother decided they wanted to have another child...I don't know, I guess I think it would be fun to interview people once and ask some really f*d up questions that would totally catch them off guard. Say you were stuck on an isolated island with me and your mother. You had to eat one of us to survive. Who would you eat? Remember I'm the one who does the hiring...I would ask them if they have experience using computers and then tell them we don't use computers. How are you with an abacus? Anyway, that's me being a jackass probably because I'm tired. Tomorrow's my dad's birthday, so Happy Birthday ORD!

you give shots a bad name

Went to Kev & Rachel's house for a party on Saturday. We left at 11:30 and got there at 1 thanks to the Garden State Parkway. Anyway, there were some good people there, and good food and beverage as well. We were all "treated" to shots made by a friend of Kevin's who I hadn't seen in probably 8 years. The first one tasted pretty good, but it burned quite a bit. The shots thereafter progressively got worse in taste and prevented me from doing the last one before leaving. Kim was kind enough to drive and let me drink a bit and give my car a rest for the day. Actually, I was asked on Friday to go into work Saturday morning at 5:30 to help unload the truck. I asked who was scheduled and my manager told me only one person. Later that day, he tells me that another manager is coming in, another worker comes in at 6 to help, and there are two managers working the overnite shift who can help. So I "overslept" on Saturday and didn't show up because I only intended on going in simply because there was one person scheduled. You know I was strongly thinking about taking the promotion to assistant manager the other day. I was thinking I would make double the money I make now and would soon be able to move out and save money as well. Then Kim mentioned Thanksgiving for some reason the other day and I realized I don't want to be a manager because I'd get stuck working all the holidays since the craphole never closes. That's not me, man. I've never been one to enjoy family gatherings all the time, but that's what the holidays are all about. I don't want to worry about someone returning the wrong anal creme because they need the one with aloe on Christmas Day. Fuuuuuuuuuck that.

I guess I saw my last opportunity to teach full-time this year. I emailed my info this morning and wrote a damn good letter, so I hope it gets me somewhere.

monday bloody monday

September is approaching. It's not a good month for several reasons. The one you may think of is that september is synonymous with the beginning of the school year, but for me, it contains several birthdays. Both of my parents and Kim have birthdays in the month, and they're spread out so perfectly so my money is missing on the 1st, 13th, and 22nd. I guess I better get crackin' on those gifts.

I rearranged my room over the weekend, and it really looks like there's more space, but alas, that's not true. It's just that the space that was in my room is all in the same area now, whereas before it was a little bit here and even less here...

Also went to the legendary Space Farms over the weekend. God bless Route 23 man. If it weren't for that road, I don't know how the yokels would get into the big city. It was blazing outside, so the smell of manure was oppressive at times. We got some good pics and got some up-close greetings from assorted mammals. Also saw some classic cars and motorcycles in the museum. If I had my own website, I would post the photos, but geocities is garbage for uploading pics.

Kim and I went out for food for just about every meal over the weekend and didn't hit a diner once. That was difficult, but a real accomplishment in my eyes. Well, I'm off to ready myself for work.

ass rod gluer

I was a bit bored today before work, so I went over to screw around on the anagram site. One of the anagrams for my boss' name is ass rod gluer. That's hilarious.

We are back from the brother's house. It was an experience. It was cloudy when we got there, but when the grill was lit, it started raining pretty hard, which ensued with my brother grilling under an umbrella while rain soaked the burgers and beer. We all scampered inside to seek shelter, but there weren't enough seats because Jabba the Hutts were hogging the sofa and didn't pry their fat asses from the chair unless it was to get more food. (Sorry Rachel if you see this and are offended-no harm intended here). Well, Kim and I stood and ate our food, which was good. We went outside after with my dad, brother, Rachel's friend, and Kevin's friend Donny to play catch with the football in between rain bursts. The rain continued to hold off for a while, but still dripped a bit. I got some more info on teaching and may have a slight chance at teaching 8th grade science. One of Rachel's friends is moving, so he's leaving his job, and they asked if he knows anyone who'd be interested. I will probably find out more info tomorrow, but that'd be sweet if I could do that. So we're home and somewhat fatigued. I realize more and more that nobody knows how to drive in the rain with each experience.

Charley the tuna. Charley the hurricane. Charley the tropical storm. Hope Dennis is doing ok with the storm approaching. Two of the girls at work were supposed to leave for vacation to the Dominican Republic yesterday, but I strongly doubt they left. That sucks. We have a flood watch for tomorrow, but that's about it. Going to my brother's today(I think) for a bbq, but probably won't stay long so we can race home before it starts downpouring. The Bengals-Bucs game got postponed until maybe Monday. Also hopefully going to Boston next weekend to visit the Rob. That should be fun, except the assistant manager who makes the schedule put me on for Friday even though I'm off on the calender. Guess who's not showing up for work Friday? No, it's not that crazy Mike; it's me! Anyway, waiting for Kim to get home from work. I have to get money and gas, so perhaps I'll hit up one or both of those places before hearing from her. Not much else is going on. I'm tired of being harassed at work by my manager to become an assistant. He doesn't listen to me when I say no, but keeps saying, "when you're a manager..." So, on Monday, I'm going to have a talk with him to shoot down his idea and set my schedule for the school year. I'm going to sub on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and then I'd work from 4:30-10 on those nights, and 9-5 on Weds and Friday to get my required hours to keep my benefits. Maybe I'd be able to save more money since I'd be getting better money from subbing once that starts and just use my work paychecks to cover my bills. I'm gonna go watch the olympics. Bye...Sike!

Went to the mall with Kim for the first time in a while tonite. Ate "dinner" at Nathan's, and it was deplorable. She got some clothes for work and I ended up getting 2 baseball caps-a Jays & a Mets cap-for $15. Not bad considering the price of most caps today. I'm tired because I went to another store to help unload their truck at 7 am, and had to go to my store afterwards to work. My manager made me do pointless work from 3:30 to 5, even though I started work early. He was complaining yesterday that he has no overtime hours, yet he makes me stay and get 2 hours of overtime for something he could have done himself since he's there until 10 tonite. I was really close to pulling a Milton today, but didn't. There's always tomorrow. Probably gonna go sleep soon.

Sunday, August 08, 2004

Yesterday was a long day. I had to go to work at 5:30 to help unload truck. I stayed until 9:30 and came home. I then tried to nap, but maybe mustered an hour of sleep out of 2 hours in bed. I showered and changed and Kim called. She had to work as well from 8-1. Boo to working on Saturday. Anyway, we were to go down to my brother's to go to a Blueclaws game with them and meet up with my uncle. We ate some Boston Market for lunch and she drove, thank god, because of my lack of sleep. We didn't hit much traffic until we got to Asbury Park, but that didn't matter much since our exit was a mile ahead. We arrived at my brother's house to find him working on a stoop by the back door with his father-in-law. They had been working since 11:30 and it was now 3:30 or so. They continued working for another 2 hours roughly, and we all sat down to some grilled burgers and corn before scurrying over to the field. The game was pretty terrible as the Blueclaws committed 5 errors. The Bombers were leading 6-1 going into the bottom of the 9th with only 5 hits. The Claws scored 3 runs in the bottom of the inning and lost 6-4. Afterwards, there was a rather intriguing fireworks display at the field. Some stuff we hadn't seen before. We headed back to my brother's house and got back home a little after midnight. I am glad today didn't start out with work at 5:30, so I'm pretty happy today.

I'm actually impressed. The Sixers made a trade and got someone who wasn't washed up. They got Corliss Williamson from Detroit for DC. I thought Coleman had a few good seasons with the sixers, but last season was just a wash because of his injury. Now they have three good, strong forwards in Williamson, Skinner and Dalembert. Unfortunately, they still have Big Dog, who will hopefully be traded soon as well. In related Detroit Pistons news, they signed Horace Jenkins today. Who? You may ask...Well, he was a stellar guard who played for William Paterson University and led them to the Final 4, but never got a break. Since then, he's been tearing up the Italian League and leading there in scoring. Good luck, Horace. Hope you make the cut!

Kim and I saw the Bourne Supremacy tonite, and would strongly recommend seeing it. We both thought it was better than the first. Good chase scenes and good flow overall. Still must see Garden State.

Kim just informed me that Ozma broke up. Their last cd was pretty terrible, but their first two were fun. Plus, they gave us a good show at Krome a few years back. Add to the list of many bands that have broken up. I've been working on my webpage a bit since yesterday. I haven't changed much, but I'm just fixing up a few things and making it lot a little fresher. May go see the Bourne Supremecy tomorrow with Kim. I've only been home for about 2 weeks, and I'm already sick of my house. I don't want to think of what it'll be like in the winter. Ugh. winter. Anyway, my manager keeps talking promotion to me, which would make me an assistant manager, but I really don't want it. I'm already not enjoying my job, so why would I want to spend more time there, and have a crappy schedule. Yeah I get more money, but I don't know if it's worth it. I'm not making a decision until the summer's almost over.

Monday, August 02, 2004

Welcome to August, the month where I still whine about summer ending and going back to school in September, even though I'm not in school anymore, and it's only August 2nd. I guess old habits are tough to break. Anyway, this is it. It's the final chance for finding a teaching job before another new school year begins. Chances are, it won't happen, but I'm way past feeling sorry for myself. In some ways I find it to be some sort of sign telling me not to do it, which would have been more helpful had I known 3 years ago so I could have graduated without going another year for teaching. So life continues mocking me and everyone else. I hope to visit Point Pleasant at least 2 more times before summer's over, as well as getting up to Boston if all works out ok. Should make for an enjoyable month at least. Kim & I already want to go to Curacao for our next vacation, whenever the hell that may be. First comes job, then money, then paying off debt, then saving money, then vacation. In my world, conversely, the pattern goes: vacation, hopefully job, never having money, you only live once, why not enjoy yourself and be broke before you have major responsibilities.

Ramble on. I finally used my aim account again, but it made me upgrade before I did anything, and I haven't noticed much difference. Saw The Village on Saturday evening, but wasn't impressed. I thought it was slow and I knew what the "twist" was before it was revealed at the end. I'm not a film critic either, but usually I'm easy to appease. I've watched some truly awful movies and didn't complain too much, so compared to the likes of Going Overboard or, say, Star Wars Episode I, it was pretty good. The idea was interesting, but the movie did not do it much justice. Oh well. Two more movies to catch before the end of next weekend that shouldn't disappoint.

I purchased the new Hives cd and the My Chemical Romance cd the other day and like both of them, but I also purchased the Roots new cd and was disappointed because the show was so good compared to the album. I must say, I still enjoy music, but my knowledge and purchasing has dropped off since my days at the music store ended 2 years ago. I don't think there will be a correlation with me buying drugs at my current place of employment and a decline after I leave however. I'm in the mood for Doritos.
