Even Frosty Wouldn't Be Jolly This Weather

The snow started at 11:43 AM today, and the reason I know this is because Kim and I were planning to at least meet to get lunch before going to our respective homes and getting snowed in. I had just gotten into my car to warm it up and head to her house when I looked up and my window was covered already. So our plans of going out to get lunch ended up with us making turkey sandwiches at her house and then me going home after about a half hour because the streets were already covered. It's still coming down rapidly. The snow is very tiny and light-looking flakes, but the volume is amazing. Tonight, the wind will pick up and make it blizzard-like. I think they're predicting up to 15 inches. Can't wait to shovel tomorrow.

So my day after lunch consisted of playing ESPN basketball for PS2 and then coming online to talk about my uneventful day. After completing this blog, I will probably go back to my room and play more basketball.

As Kim said, the news is official. Their website now has the message. Hey Mercedes is broken up. Add to my list of beloved bands that have, well, disbanded:
  • Kid With Man Head
  • Fig Dish
  • Face To Face
  • Wu-Tang Clan
  • the Benjamins
  • Dynamite Hack
  • Knapsack
  • Ozma
  • Saves the Day

Oh wait, that last band didn't break up, they just turned into crap. My bad. Anyway, you may not agree these are the best bands, but I loved all of them, and it stinks especially because HM was the one band we caught every time they came to the area. Actually, for a stretch Kim & I saw HM like 4 times over the span of 8 months or something, and no one else in between. At least I still have their EPs and CDs to listen to, and of course their awesome cover of When In Rome's The Promise.

So it's sad news unfortunately, but hopefully the members will continue to stay involved in music in some form and we'd be lucky enough to hear from them again.

Tomorrow will consist of shoveling my parents' cars and mine out of the foot or more of snow and shoveling off our steps, sidewalk, and my grandmother's house. Then I will watch the playoff games and hope the Eagles win and the game between the Pats and Steelers goes into 7 overtimes and half the players get stuck in snowdrifts so the AFC forfeits the Super Bowl. My brother would be happy that his team finally wins the big game, and I don't have to hear about Ben Hamburgerhelper winning a record 16 games as a rookie QB, or hear about the genius of Bill Belichik any more (no offense to Rob).
